Our company
University science. Practical progress.
Halways connects biotechnology with the everyday needs of agriculture. Founded in 2013 by scientists at Universiti Putra Malaysia, we develop biological products and share practical knowledge to help farmers and agricultural businesses work towards more sustainable food production.

A university beginning
Halways grew through UPM’s InnoHub programme, with early university support to commercialise research. That beginning continues to shape our purpose: closing the gap between scientific discovery and the people producing our food.
We bring together university knowledge, biological solutions and agricultural education. Our role is to help research reach farmers, livestock producers, aquaculture operators and industry partners in forms they can understand and use.
Early UPM funding helped Halways take its first steps in university technology commercialisation.

Scientific leadership
Prof. Dr. Shuhaimi Mustafa
Chairman & Chief Technology Officer
Prof. Dr. Shuhaimi Mustafa brings expertise in microbial biotechnology, food biotechnology and microbiology to Halways. A professor in UPM’s Faculty of Biotechnology and Biomolecular Sciences, his research contributes to technologies translated into applications for agriculture, livestock and aquaculture.
His scientific leadership supports our focus on turning biological knowledge into practical tools and learning opportunities for agricultural communities.
Biological solutions, connected to real needs
Our portfolio includes agricultural microbes, biological crop-protection products, animal probiotics and supplements. We serve crop production, aquaculture and poultry through a focused range of biological technologies.
Products are one part of that work. Training and technical conversations help growers understand biological approaches, ask better questions and relate new knowledge to their own production systems.
Growing knowledge alongside agriculture
Our company profile reflects experience in agricultural microbiology, pollution mitigation, ecosystem restoration and natural-resource conservation. We connect these interests through a shared ambition: productive agriculture that also cares for the resources it depends on.
From our UPM InnoHub roots to our production presence in Semenyih, we welcome conversations with farmers, researchers, training organisations and agricultural businesses ready to explore biological solutions.
